Skills Required

• Expert / Specialist skills in designing and developing mainframe system

  applications in large integrated IMS DB/DC Full Function and FASTPATH, 

  IMS/DB2/Relational co-existent environment.

• Proven experience in using JCL, TSO/ISPF, BTS, PLI, SQL/QMF, REXX, CLIST.

• Proven experience with Message Switching / Event Driven Architecture and Screen handling software (SCREENIO).

• Proven experience with IBM 3270SNA communications and others such as Communication Manager II.

• Proven experience with all stages of automated system implementation in large complex high volume mainframe systems, with online and batch transactions

•  Work with a business/systems analyst to determine mainframe system            enhancement requirements

• Detailed system analysis and design, structured program design, technical   design and any other supporting documentation conforming to Ministry              standards.

• Fully tested, documented, operational, and integrated online and batch transactions, programs, source code, routines, databases in accordance with functional and technical specifications.

• Design mainframe interfaces as required incorporating appropriate security levels to conform to all ministry and government standards.

• Design appropriate tables as required to administer the system and to efficiently store all data submitted by users and retrieved by the system.

•  Prepare fully documented operational procedures for system and production system support staff.

• Problem resolution support to databases staff, system and user acceptance test teams, and other staff members.

• Technical consultative support to other staff members as required

• Effective knowledge transfer to ministry staff at all stages of this assignment.

• Investigating and resolving production problems.

• Investigating and resolving outstanding problem logs and work requests.

• Providing solution to various ad-hoc requests received on a regular basis.

•  Assisting on current on going projects when required.

• Responding to questions and resolving problems from users.

• Assisting in assessing and providing solutions to improve the performance of existing systems.

• Providing estimates to client committees for work to be done.

• Providing clear and complete documentation for updated systems.

• Excellent negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills.

• Knowledge of system development methodologies.

• Knowledge of OPS System would be an asset
